Laser Skin Rejuvenation
Erbium YAG laser energy is different from other more ablative alternatives such as CO2. Erbium laser treatments usually provide faster healing and less downtime than a traditional ablative treatment and are a very popular treatment among patients. Results include smoother, younger skin with a decrease in fine lines and sun damage.
How does Erbium work?
An Erbium YAG laser procedure provides mild to moderate skin resurfacing, treats sun damage and other skin irregularities by delivering laser energy to both the outer and inner layers of the skin. This treatment stimulates the production of collagen and triggers new skin cell turnover – resulting in newer, healthier, firmer skin.
The face, neck, chest and hands are all areas which respond well to Erbium treatments. There is minimal discomfort after treatment as healing and re-epithelialization of the treated area occurs rapidly.
What should I expect?
Treatments usually take less than 30 minutes and should be done in the clinician’s office. The laser energy precisely vaporizes thin sections of skin, layer by layer and as the treated area heals, new skin grows to replace the damaged skin that was removed during the laser treatment. Many patients describe the treatment as a warm, sharp feeling and experience an immediate tightening of the skin. After treatment, most patients look and feel like they have a sunburn and should avoid sun exposure for at least 7 to 10 days (consult your clinician for specific post-treatment care). Within the following weeks after your treatment, you should expect the emergence of young, healthy, radiant skin as well as a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles and skin texture irregularities.* *Results may vary
